Potential Resident Information

How do I know when it’s time to start looking for senior living options for a loved one?

The decision to place a loved one in a senior living community can be a difficult one. We understand how complex and emotional this decision can be. After all, you are thinking about the safety and health of your loved one.

Here are some signs that your loved one might benefit from senior care:

  • Increases in falls or accidents
  • Missing medications or taking them incorrectly
  • Periods of confusion
  • Decreased safety awareness
  • Changes in personal hygiene and daily activities
  • Lack of interest in enjoyable activities

Are there any options for taking care of a loved one when I need a break or am traveling out of town?

Realizing that you are unable to sufficiently care for your loved one is a difficult discovery. It is normal to experience feelings of guilt, frustration, and anger. Whether you are a spouse, child, or other relative, the emotional, economic and legal complexities of deciding what level of care is appropriate, and affordable, can be overwhelming. Jefferson City Manor can offer assistance with respite care or long-term care placement.

Respite care allows for a short-term placement, generally five to seven days, to allow the caregiver an opportunity to take time off and rest. Families will often use this type of placement while they enjoy a vacation or travel for events in which they cannot bring their loved one with them.

Our home also offers assistance in the transition from home to long-term care. Long-term care is when a person is admitted to the facility for a longer period of time, or permanently, depending on the needs of the individual.
